Man fatally shot during fight in Ocean Beach

A San Diego Police cruiser at a crime scene FILE photo courtesy of SDPD Homicide detectives sought Thursday to identify and track down a man who fatally shot another man during a late-night fight in Ocean Beach The deadly shooting took place in the block of Newport Avenue shortly before p m Wednesday according to the San Diego Police Department The victim whose identity has not been issued died at the scene from at least a gunshot wound to his upper body Investigators have learned the victim was involved in a confrontation with two men in a parking lot SDPD Lt Lou Maggi commented The victim punched one of the men at which time the second man produced a handgun and shot him At that point the killer and his companion fled to the west down a nearby alley then to the north toward Santa Monica Avenue Maggi revealed Police have distributed no detailed descriptions of the shooter or his cohort Updated at a m Sept City News Arrangement
